Beauty and the Beast

                                Jeanne-Marie Le Prince de Beaumont – “Beauty and the Beast”
This article was very interesting it was completely different from the movie.
Setting
1.      1.Beast’s Castle
             – located deep within the forest
2.      2.Beauty’s Bedroom (Apartment)
-          Where Beast tried to convince Beauty to marry him, he did this every night at nine o’clock.
                        -      Foreshadowing – The Beast’s secret of the cure for the curse that is on him.
3. Merchants house
                        - Beauty’s father
                        - Located in country near Beast’s castle
                        - Learn all about Beauty and her much she loves and devotes her life to her father.
Point of View
-          3rd person omniscient
·         The author is telling the thought of many characters throughout the story
                  ~ Examples: Beauty, Beast, Beauty’s Sisters, & the father
Comparison: Movie to the Story
Bell - only child                                  Father - Inventor
Beauty - five siblings
Father - merchant
Beast – mean, rude, in the beginning – changed over time
Beast – Nice, caring, understanding, considerate and loving from the very beginning
Rose – symbol of Beast’s life left
Rose – used to get Beauty to stay with him forever.
People also cursed into objects
No one in the house but the Beast
